"Judy Roderick: Ain't Nothin' But the Blues is a striking debut by an early twentyish girl folk singer with an obviously strong sense of blues style. Her phrasing, drive and vocal control take her on a frequently soaring exploration of sophisticated blues Miss Roderick is an obviously important new talent and we should be hearing a lot more from her and about her.".

The results can be heard on the winning new album, That's Right. The band starts the attack right away with the hard-driving horn riffs of the title track, leaving no doubt that this is one band with horns that knows how to rock!/5(14).

Ain't Nothin' But the Blues was an eclectic mix of traditional acoustic folk tunes and large arrangements of blues tunes. This album includes early contributions on harmonica by John Hammond. The second album was considered by Roderick to be an artistic debacle, and led to her leaving the label. It remains unreleased.
